The LA Times reported today that Paul Dano, who starred as the sullen-faced, Nietzsch-worshipping teen of the dysfunctional Hoover family, is teaming up with Little Miss Sunshine directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris and producers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa for a new quirky dramedy, He Loves Me.
He Loves Me was written by Dano’s real-life significant other, Zoe Kazan, who is also set to co-star in the film. According to the LA Times, Kazan has finished a draft of the script and is further developing it with Dayton and Faris. Even though the directing team received high praise and acclaim for Little Miss Sunshine,He Loves Me marks Dayton and Faris’ first time directing a feature since Little Miss Sunshine, though the pair had been attached to several other previous projects.
Producer Berger told the LA Times in a phone interview that although the plots of these two films widely differ, He Loves Me is similar to Little Miss Sunshine “in terms of a movie with comedy, with heart and with strong characters.”
